Students at Bennington can build Plans that are focused on problems and questions across the major disciplines within the sciences and math; they can also combine and integrate advanced work and experience in these areas (and others across the College) to create Plans that address innovative, synthetic questions. Plans might focus within the traditional arenas of biology or mathematics or physics, but they are not confined to these more familiar ‘majors’. They might also combine advanced work in biology and astronomy to address questions of exobiology, mathematics and musical composition to explore general models of musical structure, environmental science and work in social sciences to address sustainability of food production, and (you can add your own ideas; the possibilities are endless).
To get an idea of the possibilities, begin by exploring the ways we approach particular disciplines here — but always remember that you will be responsible for figuring out how you will use these opportunities
